When a friend of mine pointed me to this hosting company called Fat Cow, I thought she was joking. Eco friendly, efficient and affordable, that's how she sold it to me, and you know what, she was absolutely right! I'm no green freak and don't really pay attention to that side of things, but when I can do so by paying no extra and getting a great deal into the bargain, what is there to lose? If I have one gripe it's that name, but then who am I to complain about what a company chooses to call itself?

As someone who is a keen environmental activist I have always been at odds with the very idea of massive call centres and data centres using up huge amounts of energy, but Fat Cow really opened my eyes with its approach to what it calls green hosting. Not only do they have one very keen eye on environmental issues and believe me it is not just a gimmick but they provide a superbly priced, reliable and very capable hosting service that I cannot fault. I will soon be transferring all of my business to Fat Cow – thaT's how impressed I am with the service so far.

Now here's something different: a hosting company that uses the latest technology, has an excellent reliability record, provides a superb service and yet allows you to help the environment at the same time! I must admit, I hadn't heard of the concept of, green hosting until I found Fat Cow, but now I would not look at a company that does not adhere to these guidelines. It's not just about buying carbon credits, either, as the whole company ethos is geared towards efficient use of technology and materials and that transfers to the users, too, as I've begun to look more closely at what I do with my waste!

I've never been one to pay much attention to the environmentally friendly movement and was, I must admit, attracted to Fat Cow by the name, but there is more to this than just a gimmicky way of attracting customers. Now that I have seen what they do to keep the environment in order I do the same things, and its all about efficient management of resources. The whole ethos extends to their hosting service, too, as it is very quick, reliable and easy to use and also very affordable. Am I converted to the green cause? Not quite in such a feverish manner, but it is something I now pay attention to in greater detail.

I renewed my contract with Fat Cow recently without any hesitation. Why? You may ask, but when you are promised a reliable, easy to use, capable and affordable service for your hosting needs and when that is actually what you get there may be no point in trying another for the sake of it. I have had no complaints about the service at Fat Cow at all, the technical staff certainly know their stuff and are quick to respond, and the service is well priced and well designed. The green aspect is an added bonus that may well attract more users, but more than anything this service lives up to its promises.
